BHLDN {Wedding}

I’m not one of those people who got married and then decided I want to plan weddings for the rest of my life. I loved my wedding. It was the best night of my life. But, I have absolutely no desire to do it again or for anyone else as a job. However, I am into easy breezy stuff that helps people’s dreams come true so I wanted to share. Yesterday, the brainchild of Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie, BHLDN (pronounced beholden), an online wedding retailer launched. It’s a one-stop shop to create the perfect look for a vintage wedding.

After doing a little browsing, here is a look I created:
1. Ribboned Silk Gown, $1,600
2. Brocade D’Orsay Heels, $350
3. Deco Beaded Clutch, $180
4. Take Root Earrings, $240

Overall, I think for the right person BHLDN is a great concept. However, it does seem to be pretty overpriced for non-designer duds. Their higher-end gown prices ($3,000-4,000) rival those of lower-end Vera, Monique, etc. For that, I’d rather have a personal experience with a couture seamstress in a bridal salon so I know the dress will fit like a glove. Wedding dress shopping is so personal and I just can’t imagine doing it online. I think this would have been much more exciting if they focused on paper and other decor details that make weddings special. What do you think? Would you or did you purchase your wedding dress online?

    I adored my wedding, had fun planning it, but have no desire to look at wedding things anymore. Actually, I have been married for 2 and a half years and I still can’t change the channel fast enough when a wedding show comes on. But I digress. Going to the bridal stores and trying on all the gowns was one of the most fun parts of getting married. I can’t imagine ordering my gown online, and not getting to look through the racks. However, they are very beautiful.
